The Isle of Man – 5 Days / 4 Nights

The Isle of Man lies midway between Britain and Ireland.  It is in the Gulf Stream, meaning it has one of the mildest climates in the British Isles.  There are over 100 miles of beautiful coastline with dunes, rocky cliffs, sweeping beaches and secluded coves and inland there are mountains, moorland, glens and woods.

Suggested Holiday Hotel:

The Empress Hotel, Douglas, commands a prime position on the Victorian promenade, overlooking Douglas Bay.  Accommodation is reserved for 4 nights on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis.  Hotel features include a large conservatory, Piano Bar, health club with gym, sauna and steam room.  All rooms have private facilities, complimentary refreshments and satellite TV.

Suggested Tour Itinerary:

Day 1
Depart during the morning and travel north to Heysham, making an appropriate comfort stop en-route, arriving in time to board the 14.15 hrs Isle of Man Steam Packet Company ferry sailing to Douglas.  The crossing takes approx. 3½ hours.  Upon arrival in Douglas, it’s a short journey to our hotel – The Empress, which commands a prime position on the Victorian promenade, overlooking Douglas Bay.  Accommodation is reserved for four nights on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis.
Hotel features include a large conservatory, Piano Bar, health club with gym, sauna and steam room.  All rooms have private facilities, complimentary refreshments and satellite TV.

Days 2-4
During your stay, the following excursions are included:
•    A full day excursion on board the coach accompanied by a local guide to the north of the island, visiting Laxey, from where you can view the famous Laxey Wheel, Ramsey, the Point o Ayre (the most northerly part of the island) and Jurby.
•    A full day excursion on board the coach accompanied by a local guide to the south of the island, visiting Castletown, The Sound (the most southerly point on the island), Cregneash including entrance to the Cregneash National Folk Museum, Port Erin and Peel.
•    A combined return journey on the Manx electric Railway from Douglas to Laxey, where you will change and board the Snaefell Electric Railway from Laxey to Snaefell Summit.

Day 5
Depart after breakfast for the short journey to the ferry port, to board the morning 08.45 hrs sailing back to Heysham.  From Heysham the coach will return to your local area, again making an appropriate stop en-route, arriving during the early evening.
